African dude.

I think the trip to africa is still having a bit of an effect.. I got a little carried away with some African music last night and decided to give some portrait painting a go.  I've been wanting to try some portrait gear for a while but have put it off because its a bit daunting, but I was looking around on the net and came a cross the work of  David Darrow and loved his portrait paintings. www.darrowart.com  I think what makes his paintings so cool is his huge brush strokes that give the whole thing a feeling of ease and accuracy.. v cool!

I was given a drawing of this cool lil guy  by Adam Johnson, and I though he'd look great in oils.

So here's the finished painting..

I recently visited some floating markets just an hour out of Bangkok where fruit, clothes, meat and all sorts of stuff was sold out of boats down these little canals. This is a quick 2 hour study in oils done late last night.
